Vera was born in Germany and has been living in Auckland with her German husband since 2004. Vera learned tourism from scratch (apprenticeship as a travel agent) and was, among other things, managing director of Farm-Tours GmbH, which offers agricultural study trips worldwide.
Her passion for New Zealand as a travel destination began as early as 1990, but work and family kept her from immigrating for a long time. Since 2008 she has been self-employed again in tourism and works as a tour guide and city guide for both groups and individuals in her own licensed vehicle. When she is not on the road, she takes care of guests in her own Fernglen B&B guest house.
Vera’s enthusiasm for the country and people of her adopted home is conveyed to her guests in a warm and informative way. Her professional demeanor and sound knowledge helps to find her way in all situations. Their motto “Come as a guest and leave as a friend” has caused many guest to shed a tear when they say goodbye and think about a second trip to Aotearoa.
Vera is a member of the New Zealand tour guide association ProGuides New Zealand Inc., and in Auckland, among other things, she is also an enthusiastic sailor.
